One of my favorite promises in the Bible is found in Psalms 138:8 , “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me...”
In the English language there are two words that are spelled the same but their pronunciation and definition are completely different - Perfect:
- •PERfect - an adjective referring to being “sinless” or “flawless”...
- •perFECT - a verb whose Biblical definition describes “development” or “completion”
It’s the second word which is used in this verse.
Every area of our life is in a state of development. All of life is a learning process, an opportunity to excel and to expand - and the Lord is shaping us according to His divine design!
It’s a Lifetime Process!
None of us are just “standing still”- we’re not just “spinning our wheels” or “treading water”...
We’re Making Forward Progress!!
- Our Faith is growing...
- Our Wisdom is increasing...
- Our Confidence in God’s Word is as secure as concrete...
- Our priorities are constantly changing as we evaluate what is really important in our lives.
The Lord has begun a great work in us; we can be assured that He, by the Holy Spirit, will bring us to fruition (see Phil. 1:6)
If He leads us to it - He will see us through it!
Today, we can be confident that God loves us TOO MUCH to leave us the way we are now. He has plans for our lives...
